Guðbjörg was the daughter of Sigurbjörn Guðmundsson and Anna Sigríður Guðnadóttir who came west to New Iceland in 1879. They later lived in N. Dakota. Magnús came west to Manitoba from Ontario in 1875 with his parents, Friðbjörn Björnsson and Anna Sigríður Árnadóttir, who came west from Iceland in 1873. They took land in New Iceland and lived there until 1880. The family then moved to N. Dakota and Magnús lived the rest of his life there.
