Guðbrandur Narfason was born in Gullbringusýsla on July 6, 1867. He died on March 15, 1913 in Saskatchewan.

Guðbrandur came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba with him parents in 1877. They moved to N. Dakota and lived there for a time, but moved from there to Winnipeg in 1884 where they lived for two years. During these years, Guðbrandur worked on the railway. He moved to the Þingvalla Settlement in Saskatchewan in 1886. Anna Margrét came there with her parents, Eiríkur Ingimundarson and Gróa Ásbjarnardóttir, in 1887. They lived on his land until 1899 but then they moved to the Lakes Settlement near Foam Lake.
