Guðjón Jónsson was born in S. Múlasýsla on January 3, 1893. He died in the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan on November 7,1962.

Guðjón came to the West in 1905, with his father, Jón Jónsson and his second wife, Arndís Guðmundsdóttir. They settled in the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan where Guðjón grew up and later became a farmer in the countryside near Elfros. Þorgerður was the daughter of Jón Jóhannsson and Gunnhildur Jónsdóttir, who came west in 1905 and took land in Vatnabyggð near Elfros.
