Guðjón came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1879 and then settled in the Argyle Settlement in 1882, taking land southwest of Glenboro. He lived there until the turn of the century, then went to the Southern Cypress settlement and bought land southeast of the Cypress River. Ingiríður came west with her mother and brother to Manitoba in 1893.
