Guðjónína was the daughter of Einar Jónsson and Halla Jónsdóttir of Mýrasýsla. Einar came west to Ontario, Canada in 1874 and was in Kinmount the first years. Halla came to Ontario in 1876 with the children and the family then moved to Markland, Nova Scotia. They lived there until 1880, then moved to Mountain, N. Dakota. Guðjúnía and Sigfús lived in the Hallson Settlement.
