Guðmundur Finnbogi Jónasson was born in Vogum, Manitoba on October 19, 1895. He died in Winnipeg on July 14, 1977.
Spouse: June 19, 1922 Kristín Friðrikka Guðjónsdóttir b. August 20, 1897 in Selkirk, d. in Winnipeg on April 4, 1982.

Guðmundur was the son of Jónas Kristján Jónasson, a pioneer settler in the Siglunes Settlement on the north side of Lake Manitoba who came west in 1883 while Kristín’s parents were Guðjón Jónsson and Salína Sigurborg Kristjánsdóttir who came west in 1892. Guðmundur attended the Success Business College in Winnipeg 1910-1912, served in the military 1918-1919, settled in Winnipegosis in 1920 and ran a store until 1928. They moved to Winnipeg where he was the CEO of various companies and associations related to fishing and exports for years.
