Guðmundur Guðbrandsson was born in 1861 at Álftanes in Gullbringusýsla.
Spouse: Elín Sigurðardóttir b. 1872 in Árnessýsla.

Guðmundur was the son of Ástríður Árnadóttir and Guðbrandur Hinriksson who died when Guðmundur was 4 years old. She later married Narfi Halldórsson and the couple came west in 1877. Guðmundur came west in 1882 and was first in Winnipeg. He moved from there to North Dakota and was there for some time before returning to Winnipeg. He was in various places in Manitoba and Saskatchewan e. g. in the Þingvalla Settlement with his mother and Narfi. He moved with Elín to Big Point shortly before the turn of the century, but in 1902 they moved west to the Pacific Ocean and settled in Point Roberts. He bought land in 1919 just outside Blaine, Washington, and lived there. He cleared the forest and scrub and built a beautiful house.
