Guðmundur Guðmundsson was born in 1855 in Húnavatnssýsla. He died in Duluth, Minnesota on July 1, 1921. He took the last name Nordal in the west.
Spouse: Sigurborg Stefánsdóttir b. in Húnavatnssýsla in 1856, d. April 15, 1953 in Duluth. She had the name Sarah Nordal in the west.

They moved west with little Jónas to Winnipeg in 1887. Life’s road led them south to Duluth, Minnesota where they lived the rest of their lives. Guðmundur worked at a dairy farm for the first years, but later was the head groundskeeper at the Forest Hill Cemetery where Kristján Jónsson from Sveinatunga had managed for many years.
