Guðmundur Ingimundarson was born in Dalasýsla on July 9, 1879. He died in Winnipeg in 1959. He took the last name Goodman in the west.

Guðmundur came west in 1888 with his parents, Ingimundur Guðmundsson and Sólborg Guðmundsdóttir, and siblings. They settled in the Shoal Lake Settlement (Grunnavatnsbyggð). Hólmfríður came west at the turn of the century and was with her parents, Guðjón Jóhannsson and Sigríður Sigurðardóttir, in Svold, N. Dakota and moved with her mother and brothers to the Fljóts Settlement about 1913. She and Guðmundur began farming in Markland in the Grunnavatn Settlement, but in 1916 they moved to the Fljóts Settlement where they were until 1921, when they settled at Oak Point.
