Spouse: 1901 Kristveig Grímsdóttir born in Norður-Þingeyjarsýsla in 1878, died in Portage la Prairie August 11, 1964.

They came west in 1903 to Glenboro. In 1904 they homesteaded west of Arborg in 1904 and farmed until 1913. Then they sold the farm and moved to Arborg where Guðmundur managed his store until 1929 when they decided to move to Winnipeg.
