Guðmundur Marteinsson was born in Suður-Múlasýsla November 4, 1841. Died in New Iceland in 1921. Took the last name of Martin in the west.

Guðmundur and Ingibjörg moved west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1878 and onwards to New Iceland. They settled in Icelandic River Settlement. Lilja Ingibjörg moved to Winnipeg in 1922 where she lived with her son Helgi.
