Guðmundur Pétursson was born in Húnavatnssýsla in 1880. He died on April 25, 1941. He was known as Gudmundur (Mundi) S. Gudmundson in the west.

Guðmundur came west with his parents, Pétur Stefán Guðmundsson and Guðrún Benjamínsdóttir in 1883. He moved with his mother, now a widow, to the Árdals-Framnes settlement from N. Dakota in 1901. He took land there in 1911. Sesselja was the daughter of Jónas Tryggvi Ingjaldsson and Hólmfríður Andrésdóttir who came west to N. Dakota in 1886.
