Guðni Stefán Sigurðsson was born at Ljósavatn in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on August 7, 1848. He died on October 15, 1909 in Minnesota.
Spouse: Sigríður Jóakimsdóttir b. 1852 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla, d. 1935 in N. Dakota.

Guðni sailed west in 1873 and travelled to Wisconsin. He lived on Washington Island for awhile, but moved to the Lincoln County Settlement in Minnesota in 1876. He was the founder of the Icelandic Cooperative, Verzlunarfelag Islendinga in 1884. They moved to Williston, North Dakota, about 1900 but returned. Sigríður emigrated west in 1874.
