Guðný and Sigurbjörn came west in 1874 and stayed in Kinmount, Ontario the first year. They traveled to Manitoba in 1875 and stayed in Winnipeg, where Sigurbjörn died. Skafti Arason was Guðný´s brother and she accompanied him to the Argyle Settlement. Skafti looked after her daughters who all died before 1900. Guðný was alone when she moved in with Skaft and died there.
