Guðný Guðmundsdóttir was born in Borgarfjarðarsýsla on November 15, 1853. She died in 1894 in New Iceland.
Spouse: Jón Bjarnason b. in Borgarfjarðarsýsla on December 18, 1854, d. in New Iceland on January 4, 1919.

Jón and Guðný came west across the sea in 1887, together with Jón’s brother, Einar and his wife, Sesselja, who was Guðný’s sister. They first came to Ontario, Canada and started by visiting Ingveldur Guðmundsdóttir, sister of Guðný and Sesselja. She lived in Muskoga, Ontario, and had moved there with her husband and children in 1878. From there, Jón and Guðný traveled to Duluth, Minnesota, where they had lived for some time. They went from there to Winnipeg, but settled in the Fljóts Settlement in New Iceland in late 1893.
