Magnús came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1893 and, in the same year, travelled from there to Minnesota in the United States. Life’s road led him back north to New Iceland in 1895 and he settled in the Víðirnes Settlement a year later. From there, he moved in 1920 to Selkirk and later to Riverton.
