Guðný came west to Manitoba in 1883. Páll came west with his wife and young son to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 and settled in New Iceland. The road led them south to N. Dakota where his wife and son died. Páll and Guðný moved to the Lundar Settlement in Manitoba in 1889 and from there north to the Narrows Settlement in 1892.
