Guðrún came west to Winnipeg with her parents, Eiríkur Ingimundarson and Gróa Ásbjarnardóttir, in 1887. Bjarni emigrated there the same year and followed life’s road to the Þingvalla Settlement in Saskatchewan in 1888 and to the Foam Lake Settlement where the couple settled in 1892.
