Guðrún Guðmundsdóttir was born on May 23, 1869 in S. Múlasýsla. She died on January 12, 1960.

Guðrún came west to N. Dakota with her parents, Guðmundur Finnbogason and Guðlaug Eiríksdóttir, in 1887. Jón emigrated west with his parents in 1878 and settled with them in New Iceland. Jón moved about 1880 and bought land in the Park Settlement in N. Dakota. He lived there 15 years, then moved north to Westbourne, Manitoba, and from there further north to Vogar on the north side of Lake Manitoba. He lived there four years before moving again in 1909, this time to the Lundar Settlement.
