Guðrún Snorradóttir was born in Winnipeg on December 24, 1886. She died in Vancouver on October 12, 1971.
Spouse: 1911 Hermann Jónsson b. in S. Þingeyjarsýsla in 1888, d. in Vancouver in 1965. He took the name Herman Johnson in the west.
Children: 1. Hallfríður Guðrún 2. Jón Hermann 3. Jóhann Baldur 4. Sigríður Nanna 5. Halli. They also fostered Kristjana Indriðadóttir Skordal.
Hermann came west with his father and siblings in 1903. He stayed with them the first years, but then took land in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan. Guðrún was the daughter of Snorri Jónsson Reykjalín and Guðrún Davíðsdóttir who came west in 1883. Jóhann Gottfred Þorgeirsson and his wife Hallfríður Jónsdóttir took in Guðrún as a foster child. Guðrún was exceptionally musical, e.g. played piano with the band in Kandahar. Hermann was considered a good singer, singing bass with the church choir of the Lutheran Church.
