Guðrún was the sister of Loftur, a Mormon missionary who was in Iceland in 1874. She became a believer and came west with him to Spanish Fork, Utah the same year. Helga and Þorgerður and her foster daughter, Gróa Þorláksdóttir, came with her. Gísli, her son, came west a year later, as Einar had sent him west to fetch Guðrún and the daughters. Guðrún was ill then and it was not possible for her to come back, and perhaps she was not very interested in returning. She lived in Spanish Fork.
