Guðrún Sigurgeirsdóttir was born in 1889 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. She died in Wynyard in 1978.

Jón and Guðrún came west at the same time to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1893, he was 11 years old and she was 4. Jón grew up in the Argyle Settlement, but in 1906 he left and took land in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Sasktachewan in the Kandahar/Dafoe community. Guðrún came to the community with her widowed mother, Guðrún Rósa Jónsdóttir, in 1910. Guðrún lived on their land for two years after Jón’s death, then leased her house and land and moved to Kandahar to a house she bought there.
