Guðrún Þorbergsdóttir (Fjeldsted) was born in 1875 in Hnappadalssýsla. She died on August 10, 1942.

Guðrún came west to Winnipeg with her parents Þorberg Fjelsted and Helga Guðmundsdóttir in 1887. Jón arrived there the same year with his parents, Eggert Jónsson and Sigríður Eggertsdóttir. Jón lived with his parents in New Iceland, in Winnipeg for six years, and lastly in the Narrows. There his father died in 1897 and Jón began to look for better land. In 1899 he moved to the Swan River Valley Settlement (Árdalsbyggð). He settled there in 1900 and lived there until 1906, but then moved to Winnipeg. He lived there for twelve years, but then moved back to his land in Álftárdalsbyggð and lived there after that.
