Gunnar came west before the turn of the century and moved to the Icelandic community in N. Dakota. There he married Kristín, and they moved to Winnipegosis and lived there a number of years. They then moved to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan and settled in Wynyard.
