Halldór Árnason was born on October 3, 1851 in N. Þingeyjarsýsla and died on September 22, 1932.
Spouse: Sigríður Jónasdóttir b. April 16, 1858 in N. Þingeyjarsýsla and died on June 22, 1930.

Halldór came west with his twin brother Skúli in 1873, settling in Ontario, Canada and working in Collingwood and Parry Sound soon after emigrating. They then moved south to Wisconsin and worked for farmers there. They returned to Canada in 1876 and settled in New Iceland, settling on the southern side of the colony and calling their farm Bræðraborg. It soon became clear that it was difficult to raise hay, so they moved from there north to Dvergasteini in the same area. They moved to the Argyle Settlement in 1881.
