Halldór came west with his two older daughters in 1888. They first lived in New Iceland but moved from there to the western side of the Argyle Settlement. They moved to the Hóla Settlement in 1898 where the family lived for three years. From there they moved to Glenboro, Baldur, and finally to Selkirk. They lived in Manitoba all the time.
