They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1900 and settled in the Árnes Settlement in New Iceland, calling their farm Baldurshagi. Due to Guðrún’s illness, the family moved to Winnipeg and then to Vancouver in 1907. A year later, they moved to Blaine, Washington.
