She came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1886 with her parents, Oddur Magnússon and Margrét Ólafsdóttir, and siblings, and on from there to the Hallson Settlement in N. Dakota. She moved with them to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1905 and lived there until 1936. She then settled in White Rock, British Columbia.
