Hallur Hallsson was born in Skagafjarðarsýsla on April 11, 1837. He died in 1914 in New Iceland.

Hallur and Lilja came west in 1883 and travelled on to New Iceland. They spent the first winter in the Icelandic River Settlement, but moved to their land in 1884 in Breiðuvík in the Hnausa Settlement. They named their farm Flugustaðir. After 16 years, they moved to the Arnes Settlement and named their farm Björk. Hallur spent his last year at Hóll in the Icelandic River Settlement.
