Hallur and Guðrún came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1900 and moved north the same year to the Lundar Settlement. Hallur’s brother, Eiríkur, lived there and helped them get settled. Hallur mostly raised livestock, but also engaged in agriculture. After his death, Ólöf continued to live in the country with the children.
