Hannes Kristjánsson was born in N. Dakota on July 25, 1884. He died in Seattle in 1953.

They took land in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1904 and settled there a year later. They lived there until 1926 when they moved to Wynyard and from there in 1929 to Winnipeg. They were there just a short time because the financial crisis hit and little work was available, so they moved to Mountain, N. Dakota. In 1944, they went west to the Pacific and settled in Seattle.
