Hans emigrated in 1873 and stayed with relatives in Wisconsin the first few years. Moved to New Iceland in 1876 and settled in Icelandic River Settlement. He moved to N. Dakota in 1880, but returned to Canada in 1902 along with Friðrik his son and settled in Ardal Settlement in Manitoba.
