Tryggvi Benediktsson was born in 1871 in Norður-Múlasýslu. Died February 26, 1905 in Gardar Settlement in N. Dakota.
Spouse: Jóhanna Jóhannsdóttir b. ca. 1885. She was a daughter of Jóhann Sigurðsson from Grenivík and his second wife, Kristína Gísladóttir.
Children: 1. Kristín Ingibjörg b, 1902 in Gimli.
Tryggvi emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents, Benedikt Pétursson and Sigurbjörg Sigurðardóttir, and an older sister in 1876. They went straight yo Mikley in New Iceland where they stayed until 1879. Spent some time in the Icelandic River Settlement and three years in Akra Settlement in N. Dakota. Returned to New Iceland and lived in Gimli to the turn of the century. Tryggvi and Jóhanna then moved with them south to Gardar in N. Dakota.
