Haraldur Þorbergur Bjarnason was born in Winnipeg on February 26, 1894. He was known as Harold Thorbergur Bjarnason in the west.

Spouse: Ágústína Helga Guðmundsdóttir b. August 17, 1906. She had the last name Finnsson in the west. She was taken in as a foster child by Jón Einarsson and Helga Finnsdóttir.

Harald’s parents were Bjarni Árnason b. December 25, 1859, d. in the West on November 7, 1897 and Guðveig Jónsdóttir b. May 16, 1858, d. September 24, 1946. Information is needed about Bjarni. Guðveig came west in 1889 and married Bjarni in 1892. Ágústína was the daughter of Guðmundur Jónsson and Margrét Bjarnadóttir who came west in 1888. They lived in Winnipeg for a year, then moved to Gimli. Haraldur went to trade school in Winnipeg and after graduation became a merchant in Gimli. He contributed many good things to the community there; was on the school board and on the board of Bethel, a nursing home for the elderly in town. Then he and his wife Ágústína sat on the parish committee of the Lutheran church. Finally, he took care of the cemetery’s finances.
