Helga Arnbjarnardóttir was born in Árnessýsla April 20, 1857. Died in Winnipeg January 10, 1923. She and her children were Johnson in Canada.
Spouse: 1) Lýður Þórðarson, they seperated 2) Jón Jónsson emigrated west but returned to Iceland and settled in Sauðárkrókur.
Children: With Lýður 1. Guðmundur 2. Þórður. Neither emigrated. With Jón: 1. Páll b. 1889 2. Engilráð d. in infancy 3. Jón Lúther b. January 20, 1895 4. Engilráð Kristín b. April 7, 1896 5. Elín Sigríður b. April 10, 1898 6. Steinnunn was a twin, b. 1899, d. 1904. The other twin born dead.
Helga emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1901 with her children Páll, Jón Lúther, and Engilráð. She found work in town but after some time there she found something more suitable in Selkirk. There she met Snorri Jónsson who had just lost his wife and he hired Helga as housekeeper. Snorri lived in the Ísafold Settlement where Helga raised her children but in 1914 when Snorri quit farming she moved with him to Riverton.
