Helga Eyvindsdóttir was born in 1841 in Snæfellsnessýsla. She died on December 12, 1923 in N. Dakota.
Spouse: Helgi Guðmundsson b. in Mýrasýsla in 1831, d. in N. Dakota in 1897. He took the last name Goodman in the west.
Children: 1. Guðmundur b. September 4, 1870 2. Guðbjörg b. May 17, 1872 3. Jónas b. April 23, 1875 4. Árni b. October 8, 1876. Helga also had a son, Jón Jónsson, b. September 22, 1861, d. May 29, 1943.
They came west to Canada in 1881 and then to Elk Rapids, Michigan. Guðbjörg joined them there a year later. They moved west to the Akra Settlement in N. Dakota but, due to lack of land and the number of settlers in the settlement, Helgi chose to look further west and explore the lands in the Mouse River Settlement. There he found land and they lived there ever after.
