Helga Guðmundsdóttir was born on July 27, 1869 at Flöga in Breiðdal in S. Múlasýsla. She died on November 11, 1951 in the Fljóts settlement.
Spouse: January 6, 1891, Bjarni Marteinsson b. June 29, 1863 in East Skaftafellssýsla, d. in New Iceland on October 15, 1940. Reverend Jón Bjarnason married them.

Bjarni came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883 with his parents and siblings. They settled in the Hnausa settlement, but Bjarni got a job laying a railroad in southern Manitoba. He and Helga started farming on poor land in the Geysir settlement, which they left in 1892 and moved to Winnipeg. From there they went to the Fljóts settlement in 1894 and lived there ever since on land called Hof.
