Hinrík Gíslason was born in Árnessýsla on November 30, 1832. He died in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan on December 11, 1929.
Spouse: 1854 Jórunn Magnúsdóttir b. in Borgarfjarðarsýsla on November 30, 1833, d. May 15, 1897.
Children: 1. Kristín b. 1856 2. Magnús b. November 24, 1857 3. Guðrún b. 1859 4. Dýrfinna b. November 26, 1863, d. September 13, 1895 in Seyðisfjörður 5. Eyjólfur b. April 2, 1867.
Hinrik and Jórunn came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1891. No doubt their children, Guðrún and Magnús, had some part in it because Magnús and his wife came west in 1887 and Guðrún came west in 1888 with her husband and two children. Hinrik and Jórunn moved to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan around the same time as Stefán Ólafson and Guðrun (1902). There, Hinrik took land in Foam Lake after the turn of the century, lived there for a while, but then sold it and moved away. Kristín came west in 1900.
