Hjálmar Árnason: He was born in Goðdalasókn in Skagafjarðarsýsla on April 10, 1860. He died on June 20, 1923 in New Iceland.
Spouse: 1887 Guðrún Helgadóttir born at Kristnes in Eyjafjarðarsýsla in 1865. She died in 1923. She had a sister Sigríðar.
Children: 1) Ida b. October 27, 1899 2) Fanney
They came west in 1888, first settling in New Iceland. They then moved to Selkirk, where Hjálmar worked at a trading post with Jón Sigurðsson.
In 1892, they moved to the Hóla Settlement and lived there for a time before buying better land near the Assiniboine River. They lived there until 1912.
They sold that land and moved to Glenboro and lived there six years. They sold all their land in the Hóla Settlement and moved to the Árdals-Framnes Settlement.
