Hólmfríður came west to N. Dakota in 1887. Pétur came west with his parents to New Iceland in 1876. The road led them to Hallson, N. Dakota in 1880. They bought land in the West-Sandy Hill Settlement in 1890, sold the land, and moved to Hensel. From there, the couple moved in 1893 to Roseau, Minnesota and then to the Pine Valley Settlement in Manitoba shortly before 1900. They moved to Winnipeg in 1910.
