Ingi was the son of Einar Guðmundsson Goodman and Þórstína Þorsteinsdóttir who came west about 1890 and first settled in Minnesota. From there, they moved north to Mary Hill a short distance from Lundar, Manitoba. Ingi grew up there, became a farmer in the community, and lived there all his life.
