Jón emigrated west to Ontario, Canada in 1874 and lived there for some time. He moved to Wisconsin and later to Minnesota. Ingibjörg came west to Minnesota with her siblings in 1879. There she and Jón farmed in Lyon County and lived on the land until 1898 when they moved west to Ballard, Washington.
