Ingibjörg came west to Winnipeg in 1900 with her widowed mother, María Gísladóttir. They settled in the city and Ingibjörg lived there for five years before moving west to Point Roberts, Washington in 1905 where she married Guðbjartur. He came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1902. He lived there three years, moved west to the Pacific and worked in house construction in various locations. He settled in Blaine, Washington in 1907 and lived there after that.
