They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883 and moved south in the same year to N. Dakota. They moved to Winnipeg in the spring of 1884 where they lived a year. They made their way to the Víðirnes Settlement in New Iceland in the spring of 1885. Their sons Jóhannes, Björn and Jakob had all taken land in the Víðir Settlement north of Arborg and there is where Sigvaldi and Ingibjörg arrived in 1910.
