Ingimar D Danielson was born in Árborg, Manitoba on September 8, 1918.

Ingimar was the son of Guðjón Sófóníus Daníelsson and Una Guðlaugur Þórarinsdóttir, both born in Iceland.
He attended secondary school at Bjarmaskóli, north of Árborg. In 1938 he completed a course in agricultural science in Árborg and became a farmer. He served in the Canadian Army from 1942 until February 1946.
