Jakob Baldvin Jónsson was born in Húnavatnssýsla on May 21, 1943. He died in Cleveland, Utah on July 22, 1930. He was known as Jacob B. Johnson or Jacob Baldvin Johnson in Utah. Jakob was a Mormon priest to other Icelandic communities in N. America.

May 25, 1896. 3) October 8, 1896 Petrea Knudsen b. in Denmark on October 20, 1864. They divorced. 4) January 20, 1914 Kristín Jónsdóttir b. February 16, 1869 in Snæfellsnessýsla.

Children: With Petrea, Jakob had 5 children, information missing. He adopted Einar, Sigríður’s son.

Jakob emigrated west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 moved to Spanish Fork, Utah a year later. He bought land in Castle Valley, near Cleveland, Utah, in 1885 and lived there alone for 15 years.  Farming began to take root there, and it was discovered that salinity in the soil had increased. He then moved from this area and bought land to the south. It was shortly before his last visit to Iceland in 1910 that he moved back to Spanish Fork.
