Jakobína Jónsdóttir was born in Dalasýsla on November 25, 1872. She died in Blaine, Washington on August 30, 1961.
Spouse: Þorleifur Jónsson b. 1854 in Húnavatnssýsla, d. in Point Roberts in 1946. He took the last name Johnson in the west.
Children: 1. Jón 2. Gísli 3. Sigvaldi 4. Baldur 5. Sigríður 6. Sigrún 7. María 8. Evelyn Frances.
Jakobína came west to Canada in 1876 with her mother, Solveig Jónsdóttir, and half-sister Sigríður Helgadóttir. Jakobína’s stepfather Jón Gíslason waited for them in Ontario, and they moved from there to New Iceland in Manitoba. After a number of years, they moved and took land near Mountain, N. Dakota. Þorleifur came west to N. Dakota from Iceland after 1890 and there they met and married. They moved west to Point Roberts, Washington in 1895 and took land there. Jakobína moved to Blaine sometime after Þorleifur’s death.
