Jens Jónsson was born in Dalasýsla in 1859. He died in Winnipeg on May 25, 1905. He took the last name Thorgeirsson in the west.
Spouse: Anna Sigurrós Jónsdóttir b. 1869 in Dalasýsla, d. in Bradenbury, Saskatchewan on May 8, 1935.
Children: 1. Jón 2. Skarphéðinn died July 30, 1913 3. Jón Þorgeir 4. Guðmundur Leó 5. Ástráður Vilhelm 6. Soffía Hlíf 7. Halldór Kristinn 8. Victor Edward. Jón had a daughter from his first marriage, Þuríður Anikka b. August 23, 1881.
They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1888. They lived there the first two years and then moved to the Þingvalla Settlement in Saskatchewan and took land. They moved back to Winnipeg after two years and from there to the Grunnavatn Settlement. They lived there for almost four years, but due to Anna’s illness they moved back to Winnipeg. After her husband’s death, Anna sold their house in Winnipeg and moved with her five children to the Þingvalla Settlement and lived there.
