Jóhann Ólafur Jónsson born in Skagafjarðarsýsla in 1877.
His parents, Jón Jónsson and Björg Jónsdóttir, and siblings came west across the sea at the turn of the century and probably Jóhann has left about the same time. He is mentioned in the 1930 Almanak in Finnbogi Hjálmarsson’s article on settlers at Red Deer Point and Winnipegosis; “Jóhann Jónsson Norman, Pétur Norman’s brother, lived on the Point for a few years, moved from there and now lives on the Pacific coast.” Further information is needed about Jóhann ‘s life in the west.
