They came west to Winnipeg in 1893 with four of their children. Hannes did not come west. They settled in the Hnausa Settlement.*
*Almanak 1932 pg. 51 says that he took land in the Geysir Settlement. The same is said in Vestur Íslenskar Æviskrár 1, pg. 315. The local history in the book Hnausa Reflections records him and his son in the Hnausa Settlement.
